The Na Fianna Gaelic Games brought more than 250 participants and supporters to Ho Chi Minh City, highlighting the continued growth of Gaelic Games in Vietnam.

A Regional Day of Gaelic Games
The Na Fianna Gaelic Games took place in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday 28 February, delivering a full day of sport, community and celebration with more than 250 participants and supporters in attendance. The event brought together teams from across the region and highlighted the growing place of Vietnam on the Asian GAA calendar. After heavy and unseasonal rain the day before, conditions cleared in time for a full day of competitive and high-spirited football. Teams travelled from Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong, joining local representation from Vietnam’s three growing clubs: Na Fianna HCMC, Saigon Gaels and Viet Celts.
Competition Across the Divisions
The tournament featured senior and intermediate men’s divisions, alongside senior and intermediate women’s competitions, ensuring competitive football across all levels. Na Fianna HCMC delivered a strong performance in the Senior Men’s final, defeating Hong Kong 3-3 to 1-4. Thailand won the Intermediate Men’s competition against Viet Celts, with a final scoreline of 2-2 to 0-6. In the women’s divisions, Thailand secured victory in the Senior Women’s final, defeating Saigon Gaels 1-3 to 1-0. The Intermediate Women’s final was one of the tightest contests of the day, with Orang Éire edging Saigon Gaels by a single point, 1-3 to 1-4.

Youth, Community and Celebration
A special addition to this year’s event was the mini kids’ tournament held during the lunch break. It brought great energy to the day and highlighted the growing youth side of the club. As the final whistles blew, the pitch transformed into a celebration space for the awards ceremony and live music. The celebrations continued with buses transporting players and supporters to the official after party at The Rabbit Hole, a traditional Irish bar in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The Na Fianna Gaelic Games 2026 was a resounding success not only for the quality of football, but also for the sense of connection and community it fostered.
